Outsider Young Artists

In addition to sharing with our community memorable encounters with opera through cutting edge immersive productions. Outsider Opera is also committed securing the future of our art form through supporting emerging opera creatives. To this end, Outsider Opera founded a Young Artist Program at our organization's inception which provides pre-professional artists with valuable performance and educational opportunities to better equip them to take the next step in their careers.

Morgan Best

Soprano

Morgan Best is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Music at Southern Oregon University and is thrilled to be able to take part in the Young Artists Program. Originally from Missoula, Montana, she previously studied under Dr. David Cody at the University of Montana where she was pursuing a BFA in Musical Theatre, but after transferring to SOU found her love and appreciation for music performance. Prior to her college career she sang in the Montana All-State choir and performed in a multitude of theatrical productions. Morgan is currently involved in Southern Oregon University’s Chamber Choir and has sung with the Rogue Valley Chorale. Morgan is delighted and honored to be a part of this program and can’t wait to participate in everything it has to offer.

Alexa Ehrlich

Mezzo Soprano

Alexa Ehrlich is a senior at Southern Oregon University, where she will graduate this summer with a bachelors degree in music with an emphasis on vocal performance. Alexa has been awarded two music scholarships and is the alto section leader in the SOU Chamber choir. Alexa has had a passion for music since she was very young. She has sung in every ensemble of the Rogue Valley Chorale Association from the age of 11 to 17, and has been taking voice lessons since she was 10 years old. In high school, she competed in OMEA solo and ensemble where she placed 1st in the district twice, and 2nd in state with a duet partner. More recently, Alexa has sung with Southern Oregon Repertory Singers, and the Jefferson State Choral Coalition where she has been featured as a soloist.

Andrew Davis

Tenor

Andrew Davis, a native of Medford, OR, is pursuing their Bachelor of Arts in Music at Southern Oregon University where they study with Dr. Jerron Jorgensen. At SOU, Andrew also sings in the Concert Choir and Chamber Choir and will perform as F. Scott in Lyric Theatre's spring '24 production of The Ghosts of Gatsby. He also regularly performs with the Southern Oregon Repertory Singers and Rogue Valley Chorale.

Prior to college, they sang under Andrea Brock at South Medford Nigh School, where he made multiple appearances in the Oregon All-State Choir and

Stangeland Family Youth Choral Academy at the renowned Oregon Bach Festival. During this time, he also studied voice with Michael Morris and Lynn Sjolund.

Holden Cook

Bass

Originally from Vancouver, Washington, Holden is in his third year at SOU getting a BS in music. Prior to arriving at SOU, he sang in choirs and did several theatre productions throughout middle and high school. At SOU, he has studied voice with both Dr. Paul French and Dr. Jerron Jorgensen. He is the bass section leader for both chamber and concert choir, and he is portraying F. Scott Fitzgerald in SOU Lyric Theatre's upcoming production of The Ghosts of Gatsby. He also sings with the Southern Oregon Repertory Singers and works in the Rogue Valley Chorale Association as an assistant with the youth ensemble.
